Man Charged With Gilroy Arson, Suspected Of Dumpster Fire

GILROY, CA — A man was arrested Monday in Gilroy on suspicion of starting a dumpster fire on the 400 block of First Street. Pavel Zapata, 43, was charged with arson in connection with the Jan. 25 fire. A local business owner recognized Zapata from surveillance footage, according to police. Zapata was seen setting the dumpster on fire and then attempting to start another fire, according to police. Police did not report any injuries or damages from the fire.
