BERKELEY, CA — A suspect was arrested Thursday in connection with three separate Berkeley drive-by shootings over a three-week period in the same neighborhood, police said. The suspect, identified as a 20-year-old Oakland woman, was arrested with the assistance of the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, police said. Alameda County prosecutors on Friday charged the woman with multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm with gross negligence, shooting at an inhabited dwelling and vandalism among other crimes, police said. Several of the charges include criminal enhancements. The suspect had been sought by authorities after police investigators tied her to the three shootings in the 2800 block of Acton Street targeting a home and a vehicle between Nov. 27 and Dec. 18, police said. Detectives found a firearm during a search of the suspect's residence, police said. "We are grateful for the community's ongoing support and we are thankful that we were able to bring an end to this string of dangerous gunfire for this neighborhood," police said in a statement.
