ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — A newborn is finally home with his family after spending four months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Catholic Health's Mercy Hospital.
Bevon Campbell III was born at the Rockville Centre hospital on Sept. 21 at 27 weeks and weighing just 2 pounds, 3 ounces.
His mother, Camille, from Jamaica, NY, suffered from preeclampsia and hellp syndrome, a pregnancy complication that affects the blood and liver and usually requires delivery of the baby.
Bevon left the hospital weighing 9 pounds.
Mercy Hospital's medical team included Dr. Swarna Devarajan, director of neonatology; Dr. Jordana Hannam, attending neonatologist and Dr. Godwin Onyeike, OBGYN.
Bevon was in the hospital for 133 days, through Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. But Bevon, mom and dad will be together at home in time for Valentine's Day.
