Oxford Farms is a beautiful 130 acre farm 15 minutes west of Worcester in the town of Oxford, MA. We seek a seasonal full-time grower to help run an intensive vegetable operation with three greenhouses. The farm philosophy is to build, feed and protect the soil biology thus enabling them to mediate plant nutrition to the maximum extent possible. While not certified organic, we farm without the use of chemicals but rely on compost and other natural amendments. The position entails working alongside the farm manager in the fields and greenhouses to plant, harvest, cultivate, and field prep using our walk behind tractor. The work is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift 50 lb bags, bend, squat and kneel in sometimes difficult weather conditions. The position starts in mid-March and goes through mid- November. There is potential for year round employment as well. Two years of farming experience is preferred as well as a good work ethic. Note: The farm also grazes cattle, sheep and rotates broilers through the pastures during the growing season. Some chores with these enterprises will be a part of this job.
