Edge Landscaping founded in Wilmington, NC is seeking a full time, year round experienced Shop Mechanic to maintain and service all the vehicles and equipment used in landscaping projects. The Shop Mechanic will keep the company’s equipment in top condition and ready-for-use. This position requires someone who is a problem solver with the ability to work independently! *You must have a valid NC driver’s license and clean driving record* Key Requirements: -Track maintenance requirements and perform preventative maintenance for all equipment -Perform preventative maintenance and inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair various construction and landscape equipment types. -Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation -Be accountable for completing all work on time while meeting or exceeding company standards and finding the most reasonable parts and materials cost. -Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean, safe, and well organized. -Perform clean-up operations after each project and at the close of each day. -Ensure careful handling of company equipment and materials to avoid damage. -Provide and maintain accurate, efficient, and timely costing and scheduling for all assigned work and ongoing projects. --This includes accurate and timely reporting of the time, parts, and supplies used. -Keep up-to-date with technology advances, knowledge, and skills needed to maintain and repair new equipment. -Continually improve performance and grow competencies. -Be flexible in managing multiple simultaneous projects and assignments to meet changing customer needs and commitments. -Keep management informed regarding progress and changes on projects, especially when impacting costs and schedules. -Communicate effectively and promptly and work in a spirit of cooperation with management, suppliers, and co-workers. -Demonstrate good judgment and reasoning in the performance of duties. -Adhere to all company policies and procedures and recommend improvements when warranted. -Perform work safely and in compliance with all applicable legal requirements and the company's ethical standards. -Handle all materials in compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations. -Perform repairs in the field as necessary using a company truck. Position Requirements: -Strong mechanical and diagnostic abilities are essential. -Must have basic computer skills and the ability to research parts and supplies online to find the best prices. -Requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience in servicing and repairing the type of equipment typical in the landscaping field. -Must be a self-starter with good organizational and self-discipline skills and the ability to plan work activities. -Must be able to effectively handle multiple, often changing priorities, and deal with problems calmly and professionally. -Experience required working with diesel trucks and equipment, small engines, plus welding and fabrication equipment. -Requires a High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience. -Must have a valid drivers’ license and a good driving record. -Fluency in English required (read, write, speak). Spanish fluency is a plus. -Must be available during the company's regular work hours. Be available and willing to work overtime when needed. -Must provide and wear steel toe safety shoes while in the company's shop. -The position's physical demands include standing, walking, use of hands, climbing, balancing, kneeling, stooping, crawling, and reaching a significant portion of the time.
