Description

On Friday, February 7th at 7:30 pm, the Concord Conservatory of Music (CCM) presents Mile Twelve, a thought-provoking, energetic, and entertaining band. Mile Twelve combines traditional bluegrass with a contemporary and relevant vibe. Recognized for their originality and talent, the group has already won three IBMA Momentum Awards. The Mile Twelve lineup offers five of the most promising young musicians in bluegrass: David Benedict (mandolin), Catherine "BB" Bowness (banjo), Bronwyn Keith-Hynes (fiddle), Evan Murphy (guitar, lead vocals), and Nate Sabat (bass, lead vocals)—all excellent and creative songwriters as every band member helped write and arrange pieces for their newest album, City on a Hill. Many of their new songs deal with current challenging topics—including political ones. The band's authenticity comes through when expressing their views along with their unique bluegrass sound. "Original bluegrass music, written and played by young people, is very much alive," says member Evan Murphy. "I hope people take away that songwriting and arranging really matter. It's about the material and playing it in a way that feels honest. The Mile Twelve concert is part of the 2019-2020 CCM Concert Series. This year's diverse line-up of the Concord Conservatory of Music Concert Series includes jazz, bluegrass, and children's music. Generous donors and supporting sponsor Middlesex Savings Bank and Cambridge Savings Bank have made it possible to bring the concert series to our community.
