The Jewel Summit is designed to offer young girls of the Overtown and surrounding communities a chance to examine the meaning of respect. The Jewel Summit is designed to offer young girls of the Overtown and surrounding communities a chance to examine the meaning of respect and how it can effect their every day lives. This summit provides them with an opportunity to form solid values in an encouraging and supportive environment. The Overtown Youth Center (OYC) is a year-round youth development agency whose mission promotes the tenets of empowerment, inspiration and enrichment for promising youth in kindergarten through age 25 and families residing in the Overtown and surrounding communities. OYC offers an effective, holistic model and a provision of services which are delivered through five distinct program components: in-school support, after school enrichment, summer programs, post high school assistance, and family engagement. OYC’s program offerings include 24-hour case-management, academic support, arts enrichment, character development, counseling; college and career preparation, and fitness/wellness activities. OYC also offers parent/caregiver engagement opportunities in support of their children’s overall development.
