On Tuesday, March 8, 2022 AAUW, Zonta Club of Glens Falls, and Soroptimists of the ADK, are pleased to sponsor our 6th annual IWD gathering. Our event, held at The Park Theater will feature a panel discussion featuring members from North Country Earth Action. The topic the panel will address is climate change and how it is disproportionally affecting women and girls around the world. This is a human rights issue. The panel is made up of four local women profoundly concerned about the climate crisis and the need for urgent action. They (Lisa Adamson, Catherine Atherden, Diane Collins and Bernice Mennis) founded North Country Earth Action. (www.northcountryearthaction.org) The panel will discuss the impact of the climate crisis on women and girls, and the significant role they are playing globally, nationally, and locally. Annually, the Adirondack Branch of AAUW, Soroptimist of the Adirondacks, and the Zonta Club of Glens Falls come together to celebrate International Women's Day. Each of these service organizations has at its core the mission to empower women in our local community through service, advocacy, and educational opportunities.
