Join us for a building tour of Downtown Presbyterian Church new sanctuary and educational spaces.
Eligible for LU | HSWs.
Downtown Presbyterian Church started meeting in 2004, hoping to engage and challenge established Christians and to welcome skeptics. They wanted to focus the Church’s ministry on Greenville’s revitalizing downtown area. They gathered first at the Poinsett Hotel, then at Pendleton Street Baptist Church, and finally in an industrial building on its present site – the former home of Davis Auto Parts. All of these experiences informed the Church’s goals for a new building on the block between Broad, McBee, and Washington Streets. They challenged designers to balance casualness with confidence and the weight of history with unpretentiousness. It was hoped that the final product would be an urban building connected to the City and just an object on a downtown street.
