STAMFORD, CT — A man was killed after he was hit by a train near Stamford on Tuesday morning, according to a Metropolitan Transit Authority spokesperson. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. near the Stamford Train Station. The New Haven Line is now operating on or close to schedule. There were delays between 20-30 minutes in both directions Tuesday morning due to the incident, and a broken rail near Darien, Metro-North Railroad tweeted. The train involved was a 5:40 a.m. train from Waterbury to Stamford, the MTA spokesperson said, which was subsequently canceled at South Norwalk. Passengers on a 5:20 a.m. train from New Haven to Grand Central Terminal detrained at Stamford, and were accommodated by the 6:16 a.m. from New Canaan to GCT and the 5:26 a.m. train from Danbury to GCT. According to Officer Anthony Antezana of the Metropolitan Transit Authority Police Department in the Stamford District, an investigation is being conducted, and more information could not be released at this time.
