WOODBRIDGE, VA — A 36-year-old woman was hospitalized on Monday night after she was stabbed, according to a report from the Prince William County Police Department. Gabriel Jerome Elam, a family member of the victim, was arrested and charged in connection with the stabbing.
A "domestic with weapons" was reported to authorities around 10 p.m. on Monday night in the 12200 block of Allspice Court, police said in their incident report. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Officers provided first aid until rescue personnel arrived on the scene, authorities said. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital; her injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Through their investigation, officers determined that the victim was involved in an argument with a family member, who they identified as Elam. Police believe that the argument escalated when Elam grabbed a knife.
Authorities claimed that Elam stabbed the victim several times before they separated. A 15-year-old boy was in the home at the time of the stabbing. He was unharmed.
After the investigation, Elam was arrested and charged with one count of malicious wounding. He is being held without bond and his court date is pending.
