Wolf Trap's First Summer 2022 Performances Announced

VIENNA, VA — It's not summer without live music and other performances at Wolf Trap's Filene Center. Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts announced its first summer 2022 shows, showcasing top performers and partnerships with organizations like the National Symphony Orchestra. Summer concerts happen at Wolf Trap's 7,028-seat Filene Center through a public-private partnership with the nonprofit Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts and the National Park Service. The first concert announcements cover dates from late May through mid-September. Musical performances include top names like Sheryl Crow with Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Steely Dan, Ziggy Marley and Stephen Marley, Fitz and the Tantrums with Andy Grammer, Goo Goo Dolls, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, The Beach Boys and Sting. DC's Go-Go music will get the spotlight to kick off the season on May 28. The Original Kings of Go-Go performance will showcase legendary Go-Go artists of the region with Trouble Funk, E.U. with Sugar Bear, Junkyard Band, and DJ Wroyal and the Queens of Go-Go Fitness. Wolf Trap also continues its partnership with the National Symphony Orchestra. Performances include Gil Shaham plays Tchaikovsky, Yo-Yo Ma and Paquito D'Rivera with the world premiere of an original composition by D'Rivera, Pink Martini, "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" In Concert, Disney and Pixar's "Toy Story" In Concert, and "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" In Concert. Wolf Trap Opera's summer season will include a performance of Verdi's "La traviata" with the National Symphony Orchestra. Plus, an all-African American orchestra will celebrate Juneteenth with a mix of hip-hop and classical music at A Juneteenth Celebration with Thee Phantom and the Illharmonic Orchestra. Musicals will be featured in the lineup, from "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" and returning favorite Sing-A-Long "Sound of Music" to a new installment of "Broadway In The Park." Comedy is thrown into the mix with two days of comedians Steve Martin and Martin Short. This year, attendees will see an updated orchestra seating arrangement with added aisles to improve access. COVID-19 policies at the shows are subject to change based on CDC, Virginia and National Park Service policies. Wolf Trap has a 2022 Health and Safety Policies and Guidelines web page to provide updates. Tickets will go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. on Feb. 19. Wolf Trap members can buy tickets now during the presale. It takes a donation of $80 or more to become a member. Below is the schedule announced so far at Wolf Trap.
