CT Coronavirus Hospitalizations Drop Below 1,000

CONNECTICUT — The number of residents hospitalized with the coronavirus has once again fallen below 1,000. The state Department of Public Health has reported the number of hospitalized coronavirus patients in Connecticut has dropped to 995, down 56 beds from their report on Monday, and 944 since the start of the downward trend on Jan. 12. The state's daily coronavirus infection rate climbed over one and third percentage points overnight, according to the latest data release from the state Department of Public Health. The daily positivity rate reported Tuesday was 8.68 percent. The daily coronavirus positivity rate is a function of the number of tests compared to the number of cases confirmed positive each day. Since Monday, 1,240 positive cases were logged, out of 14,293 tests taken. The numbers of tests and cases confirmed do not include those taken with at-home self-test kits. According to data released Monday, 45.9 percent of those hospitalized in Connecticut with COVID-19, or 457 patients, are fully vaccinated. Currently, the highest number of the hospitalized —316 — are in Hartford County.
