Baltimore County Police: Update On Investigation Into Fatal Pedestrian Crash On Liberty Road

Press release from the Baltimore County Police Department: January 31, 2022 On January 20, 2022, at approximately 12:15 a.m., a 2018 Infiniti Q60 struck a pedestrian along Liberty Road near Sedgemoor Road. At the time of the crash, the Lexus was traveling eastbound. Investigators believe the pedestrian, Lawrence Mwai (53), stepped into the travel lane of Liberty Road from the sidewalk near Sedgemoor Road when he was stuck by the 2018 Infiniti. When this occurred a female pedestrian attempted to seek help. The female pedestrian entered into the roadway, and she was then struck by another passing vehicle. Mr. Mwai was pronounced deceased at the scene. The female pedestrian was transported to a local hospital. The Baltimore County Police Crash Team continues working to determine all of the factors that contributed to both crashes. This press release was produced by the Baltimore County Police Department.
