Here are the top five stories today in New Orleans: Xavier University received a bomb threat on Tuesday and switched all its instruction to remote learning. Officials were given an all clear to return to campus Tuesday morning. It seems many historically Black colleges across the country have received bomb threats as well. (WDSU New Orleans) In a city council meeting Monday, it was revealed that the City of New Orleans budgets for 1,600 police officers, which is surprising because that is a number NOLA hasn't reached since before 2005 Hurricane Katrina. There are currently 903 officers actively working. (WDSU New Orleans) NOFD battled a three-alarm fire in an apartment complex in New Orleans East. No casualties were reported and the cause is unknown at this time. (Press Release Desk) After an exhaustive manhunt, the suspect in a murder and abduction case has turned himself into authorities. Edmond Ramee Sr. is accused of fleeing with his child after murdering his child's maternal grandfather. The child was returned safe and unharmed. (WWLTV.com) Mayor LaToya Cantrell, Dr. Jennifer Avegno, and the city health department are being sued over New Orleans' vaccination and mask mandates by over 100 plaintiffs claiming the mandate is preventing them from enjoying activities in New Orleans.
