Description

Press release from MCHS: Feb. 1, 2022 Morris County Historical Society is pleased to announce the award of a general operating support grant from the William E. Simon Foundation. In addition to their well-known and recognized established funding priorities, each year directors of the foundation authorize designated gifts to carry on the longstanding interests of Mr. Simon's family by providing direct service grants for programs in Morristown. "MCHS is honored to be chosen by Mrs. Porges, a director of the Simon Foundation, to receive a direct service grant this year. Even in these uncertain times, we continue to work hard to meet our community's needs while actively preserving and promoting Morris County's rich and diverse history. It's wonderful to have our efforts recognized," noted MCHS Executive Director Amy Curry. MCHS is a member-supported 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Morris County history. Located at Acorn Hall since 1971, MCHS recently completed the grant-funded exterior restoration of the Hall and its associated carriage house to reflect its historically accurate 1860-1880 appearance. Our ground-breaking exhibitions of collections as well as stewardship and interpretation of original interior furniture, finishes, and fine and decorative arts, make MCHS one of the premier county-level historical societies in New Jersey. MCHS at Acorn Hall is located at 68 Lafayette Ave., Morristown, and is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission, including exhibits and landscaped grounds, is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $3 for students, and is free for children under 12 and MCHS members.
