Maman French Bakery Opens First NJ Cafe On Jersey City Waterfront

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Oprah Winfrey once listed the cookies at the New York City French Bakery & Café Maman among her favorite things — and now the eatery will open its first New Jersey location on the Jersey City waterfront on Valentine's Day. There will also be two popups the weekends before. The Provencal-inspired café at 70 Hudson St. will bring fan-favorite salads, sandwiches, and made-famous-by-Oprah Nutty Chocolate Chip Cookies to the waterfront. It will also have a cocktail bar and outdoor sidewalk seating. On opening day, Monday, Feb. 14, Maman Jersey City will host a "Pay As You Please" day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Welcome Baby, an organization that provides low-income mothers with a package containing everything she and her newborn need. Ahead of the official opening, Maman Jersey City will host "je t'aime Jersey City," two weekends of Valentine's Day pop-ups: Dates: Friday, 2/4 - Sunday, 2/6; and Friday, 2/11 - Sunday, 2/13 Time: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. What: Stop by for a limited-time-only menu of festive pastries + drinks (some listed below) The location is just south of Jersey City's Exchange Place neighborhood and is near the PATH train to New York and the light rail train to Hoboken. The restaurant group has locations around New York City and in Canada. Some Of What You Can Expect At The Popups: je t'aime Jersey City Special Pastries: Cupid's Arrow Apple Pear Danish (vegan): with caramel croissant dough and apple pear compote infused with vanilla, lemongrass & star anise - $5 White Chocolate Raspberry Rose Cookie: $.4.50 You're Berry Sweet Strawberry Vanilla Cruffin: homemade strawberry jam & vanilla frosting nestled in crunchy brioche, topped with a heart - $5.50 Je T'aime Cookie Sandwich: passion fruit ganache, white chocolate & toasted coconut - $5.50 Cookie Bouquet: a bouquet of 8 maman cookies {it's way more delicious than a bouquet of roses} includes gift packaging - $48 And many more in addition to some maman classics! je t'aime Jersey City Special Drinks: Cherry on Top: homemade dark chocolate cherry ganache, fresh whipped cream, brownie crumbs, morello cherry sauce, and topped with a homemade chocolate covered cherry candy - $8.5 Blue Velvet: a white chocolate ganache with butterfly pea flower tea, chamomile infused whipped cream, blue velvet cake crumbles and an edible butterfly sleeping on top - $8.5 Be My Clementine: winter citrus dark chocolate ganache, creamsicle whipped cream, flourless clementine cake crumbs, topped with a clementine chocolate heart - $8.5 In addition to a selection of Maman's regular beverages! Last week, the Food Story Natural Market group in Brooklyn said it will open in Journal Square this spring.
