By John Gibson, WNIN February 1, 2022 Three more COVID-19 related deaths are reported in Vanderburgh County, while vaccinations have topped 100,000. The Indiana Department of Health raised the county's pandemic death toll to 537. More than 700 new infections were also tallied in Vanderburgh on the Friday dashboard. The county's total of vaccinated residents rose by 75 and more than 130 people got booster shots. Warrick County saw 300 more infections, Gibson County added nearly 200, and Posey County saw 83 more infections. The number of hospitalized COVID patients across the 12-county region of southwest Indiana fell slightly to 258, with about 21 percent of intensive care beds available. Statewide, the agency added 108 fatalities and more than 17,000 infections. WNIN is the NPR/PBS affiliate in Evansville, Indiana.
