District 202 Goes Remote Wednesday Due To Severe Weather Forecast

PLAINFIELD, IL — In anticipation of severe weather in the forecast, Plainfield School District 202 is switching to remote learning Wednesday. Students at each level will include four hours of synchronous learning and one asynchronous, officials announced Tuesday afternoon. A winter storm is approaching the Chicago area Tuesday evening, and total snow accumulations between 5 to 11 inches are expected, Patch reported. According to the National Weather Service, the snow will impact Wednesday morning and evening commutes. District officials said they anticipate in-person learning to resume Thursday. For Wednesday, District 202 teachers are expected to post assignments for the day in Google Classroom, and students can log on using district-issued laptops or their own devices. What school days will look like Wednesday will vary depending on grade level. Elementary students should log into Google Classroom at 9:05 a.m. Middle and high school students should log into Google Classroom for their first period at 7:55 a.m. and 7:05 a.m., respectively, and follow their schedules. Plainfield Academy and PSTEP will follow the middle and high school schedule, while preschoolers will follow the elementary schedule.
