BURLINGTON, MA — As new restrictions announced this week by Gov. Charlie Baker take effect on Friday after a recent spike in positive coronavirus cases across Massachusetts, Burlington Mall announced plans for a rapid test collection site. QuestCap announced Thursday that a new rapid COVID-19 test collection lab at the mall will provide same-day results to local residents in an attempt to limit the spread of the coronaviurus with increased testing. The collection site is due to open by the end of November, as long as it gets all needed permits. The company announced that the testing sites have the capacity of conducting up to 150 tests per day and that the sites will charge $59 for antibody tests and $179 for the rapid antigen tests. According to a news release issued Thursday by QuestCap, the tests take no longer than 10 minutes to administer and results are available within 24 hours. Test results can be received by text message or by phone and can be confirmed with certification that is received through a HIPPA-compliant mobile phone app. Appointments and payment for testing are handled online at www.testbeforeyougo.com. On Wednesday, Massachusetts health officials announced a new daily case load of 1,629 positive cases, which represents the highest one-day increase since May. The spike came after the commonwealth saw less than 1,000 new cases on both Monday and Tuesday, which followed a week that included at least 1,000 new cases each day. Officials also announced 27 new deaths on Wednesday, which took Massachusetts' death toll to 10,062 since the pandemic began.
