BURLINGTON, MA — Burlington families will not be able to switch learning cohorts in November, as initially planned, Superintendent Eric Conti told the School Committee, Tuesday.
School administrators concluded that allowing switches after the first quarter of the year would be too disruptive. Instead, switches between remote and hybrid cohorts will not be allowed until mid-year at the earliest.
"Any benefit we got rom relationships we're currently forming, we would lose," Conti said. "We'd almost have to redesign everything starting now."
Conti said the district has received a handful of requests, but most people have been patient.
Burlington school administrators are not alone in finding cohort switching more complicated than planned, the superintendent said.
"It's harder than everyone thought," Conti said.
