Description
BURLINGTON, MA — Celebrate Burlington will not happen as usual this year, but two Burlington organizations have set up food drives Saturday, so residents will have the chance to give back.
People Helping People and the Presbyterian Church in Burlington are each holding a drive for the Burlington Community Food Pantry. The Food Pantry has had a significant rise in the need of food assistance during the coronavirus outbreak and associated lockdown, People Helping Pepole said.
Items needed include mayonnaise, vegetable oil, oatmeal, salad dressing, broth, snacks, shampoo, tissues, disinfectant wipes and baby wipes.
Residents can drop off non-perishable food at two locations, Saturday:
People Helping People Food Pantry: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.10 St. Mark's Rd.
Presbyterian Church in Burlington: 9 to 11 a.m.335 Cambridge St.
Donors are asked to put donations in their trunks to allow contactless transfers.
Residents can also mail monetary donations to People Helping People, PO Box 343, Burlington, MA 01803, or Venmo them to @Burlington-panty.
The Burlington Recreation department also put together promotional "Celebration Bags" and created house decoration kits for Celebrate Burlington.
