I started keeping up with politics 40 years ago, and voting 30 y/a. What I noticed was all my peers I talked to believed everything magically changes on January 20 every 4 or 8 years, depending on which party gets the White House. Based on what I am hearing now a lot of people believe our economy was great on January 19, 2021, and suddenly inflation kicked in on the 22 and store shelves were empty. It doesn't work like that. The economy we have today is the hopefully end result of President Bush starting Quantitative Easing in 2008, then President Obama extending it in 2011 and then 15, then President Trump extending it again in 2017. The same people saying the inflation we have today is because of the money President Biden is printing now, did not say a word when Trump did the same thing for 4 years straight. Nothing happens overnight. Lets take Marihuana for example. In 1935 80% of white people had never even heard about Marijuana, but a Federal agent needed a new enemy. Enter Harry Anslinger. I don't have time to go into all the crap Anslinger did to get the Marihuana Tax Act passed, except to say it was all based on lies he told. In 1970 President Nixion lied and told our parents and grandparents that Marihuana is so dangerous, he is having it listed as a Schedule 1 drug. In 1972 Nixion started his War on Drugs. How many of you know what a Schedule 1 drug is? Our Federal Governments 3 guidelines for something to be a Schedule 1 drug are: 1- It has absolutely no possible useful social purpose what so ever. 2- It is prone to abuse 3- It is highly addictive Marijuana is exactly the opposite; Marihuana has been used for thousands of years for 1-Textile products like rope, sails and clothing 2-Religious and recreational purposes 3-Medical uses (see note 1) Our current day War on Drugs was all started in 1972 by President Nixon's lie Marihuana is a Schedule 1 drug. It was made much worse by President Reagan in 1982, and even worse by a Senator Biden in 1986 and 1994 with his Mandatory Minimum Sentencing. When President Nixon started his War on Drugs he did so for 2 reasons. 1-we had many soldiers returning from Vietnam addicted to drugs like heroine 2-Nixon hated black activist and white hippies, and he associated marihuana use with both I remember when President Reagan energized the War on Drugs in early 1982. At the time I could buy good Mexican weed for $35 an ounce, or $105 for a quarter pound. Within 6 months if I could find it, weed was $140 an ounce. President Biden first took office as a Senator in 1973, since then tens of millions of people have been arrested for possession of Marijuana, and millions of them have served time in Jail or Prison for it. Our War on Drugs was started by republicans, but they could not have done it without democrat support. None of our problems began yesterday. When President Biden was first elected as a Senator in 1973 my national debt was $480 Billion. Today at artificially low interest rates the interest middle class people have to pay each year on their national debt is $480 Billion. My parents' generation started the War on Marijuana, it's time your generation stopped it. Note 1: If the THC in Marijuana does not have medical uses, why do some pharmaceutical companies sell THC pills?
