Description

This Alaska Film School Winter Survival Course is for professional and aspiring producers of Los Angeles who want to gain the skills necessary for winter travel, shooting, editing and producing in remote, winter survival conditions. One major job for Instructors is making sure all Students & Sponsors are warm, that they have fun and that no one gets hurt. This is possible through our thirty+ years of filming in remote Alaska. However keep in mind this epic adventure is not for the "faint-of-heart". Anyone of any age or skill level can travel to Anchorage and participate in the local training. But only those willing to risk it all are eligible to bark upon the dangerous expedition along the Gulf of Alaska! This Training is FREE or "at-cost" meaning you provide for your own expenses, production equipment, survival gear, etc. You may also "Come as you are" meaning you can arrive with just the bare essentials like the clothes on your back. Everything you need can be purchased in Anchorage. We will show you what you need and guide you every step.of the way there and back. Very few Hollywood Productions or any other film has shown on screen what its really like in America's Last Frontier. This is your chance! Course features a week in Anchorage and surrounding wilderness areas for introduction to winter and preparation for the remote Alaska Winter Survival and Filming Expedition. Week One is full of exciting experiences including exploration and filming of mountains, ocean, rainforest, and Wildlife! Basic Winter Travel and Survival essentials will be shown to everyone as we film and edit throughout Week One in preparation for Week Two. There is room for six people Week One but only three people for Week Two. Week Two involves travel to a far distant place along the Gulf of Alaska which is many miles from civilization. This entire course is a benefit for building a Film School base camp in this most extraordinary beautiful, wild and scenic part of Alaska. carpe diem. Actual costs and travel details will be worked out. Next year, and throughout the coming Summer, the normal cost is 5k per day. Right now its FREE! This means that there is no charge for otherwise very high quality and expensive Film Production Training. This Community Enrichment Project is to promote and support the growing Movie-making Community while also funding a remote production training facility in remote Alaska.
