Senior abuse ~

Description

I am a 85 yr. old male with a debilitating disease called Degenerating Bone Disease where all the cartilage in my joints no longer reproduce itself, leaving bone on bone, which is quite painful. I have already had both hips replaced, and was supposed to have both shoulders replaced, but, due to the Covid19, it has been postponed. In the meantime. I have two doctors that I have to work with monthly and I need to make sure that I am able to have reliable transportation, hence my contacting Markeith Repairs to repair both cars, especially the A/C's, from his post on Craigslist in which he was offering total auto repairs with special prices for seniors and a full guarantee on his work and one year on parts. I called him about the cars, and he and his wife came over and he said that there would be no problem fixing the cars, so I called my Triple A ( his tow truck was not working at the time ) which cost me $25 as it was ONE MILE over my allotment, and they took the 94' to work on first When he returned the cars, they seem to have been in working condition, but I really do not use the cars much except to go to my doctors. I used the 94' Station wagon about 2 weeks after he had brought them back, the 94' A/C did not work...he told me that it most likely a slow leak and he would take of it. I used the 93' the next week, and it also did not work halfway to the Doctors office. I again called him about it, and he would take care of it...but did not. In the meantime, he still had not fixed the 94' Unfortunately, Covid came along, which also had delayed him picking them up. That was March. I saw another post on Craigslist on 4/21/2020 at which time I called him and he said " that he JUST started working again and that he would "pick them up in a couple of days" That was August 31,2020. I called again on September 6, 2020 at which time "he told me that he would get them tomorrow"...He Has Not, and will NOT return my calls. I had paid him $800 CASH after the 94' had been repaired, and another $1200 after the 93', totally the wrong thing to do ! I do not have the funds to be able to find another HONEST mechanic... In his ad, he had said that he was honest, trustworthy etc etc etc. I should have known when someone says that, the opposite is true. So far I have reported him to the BBB and the Attorney General's Office who got back to me and told me to also report him to Financial Abuse for Senior citizens, which apparently is a serious Department of the Federal Government. Do what you will with this information, but BEWARE !
