BROOKLINE, MA — A working group through Brookline's Park and Recreation Commission is on the hunt for the perfect place to put a community pool. In a news release, the commission said the working group will conduct a study of several locations throughout Brookline and present its recommendations at a later date. According to the release, the community pool could include elements like a main pool with accessible entry, a lap pool, play elements, a separate area for small children and a shady space for lounging and picnicking. The pool is also intended to include adequate parking and a bathhouse for users. The commission said the working group so far has identified Larz Anderson Park, the golf course parking lot, an area of the Putterham Woods near Fire Station 6 and property at Newbury College as sites of interest. Parks and Open Space Director Erin Gallentine invited residents to attend the working group's upcoming Zoom meetings on the topic. "This working group will be instrumental in identifying possible locations for an outdoor community pool and the subsequent proposals that will move the venture forward," Gallentine said. "The initial identification of possible locations will serve as the groundwork for a more comprehensive feasibility study. We welcome our residents to attend the working group's Zoom meetings to stay updated and informed regarding this topic." The next meeting will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 24. A link to the Zoom meeting will be posted on the Brookline town calendar.
