Cumberland Welding and Fabrication Skills Required • Understanding of building and welding codes • Knowledge in the use of Project, Word, Excel etc. • Ability to read drawings • Ability to perform E drawings and construction layouts • Ability to generate detailed production schedules and manpower loading • Excellent written communications, using correct grammar and spelling • Ability to plan, direct, and provide technical support • Understands structural steel fabrication, Steel erection, and load planning • Understands weld symbols and prepares weld joints in accordance with code • Sequences work steps to allow access for fitting and welding in proper sequence • Understands capabilities of and directs operation of all non-specialized metal working equipment • Understands and applies visual inspection criteria in pre-QC work checks • Ability to plan weld sequences to minimize distortion and directs post weld straightening • Implements quality assurance plans in daily operations • Directs workers to ensure adherence to all production and QC hold points • Addresses quality issues through corrective actions • Communicates quality issues to management and engineering staff for further direction Scheduling: • Plans daily work activities to meet overall production schedule • Coordinates worker resources between multiple projects to maintain overall manufacturing efficiency • Communicates progress daily to project management team • Adjusts schedule as required to meet production goals Work Planning: • Develops project specific work plans • Identifies labor, equipment, and spatial requirements for project execution • Maintains workflow and factory layout to maintain efficient throughput of work product Safety and Cleanliness: • Maintains safe, clean, and orderly work environment • Identifies and plans for required worker training • Develops task specific work plans for hazardous operations and provides direction and training to workers in these tasks through written and verbal communication • Actively communicates potential hazards to management • Eliminates hazards through work planning and prevents unsafe work activities until hazard is corrected Production Volume: • Meets quality and safety standards • Completes projects on time and under budget • Drives production schedule by setting goals • Communicates production goals to work force Personnel Management: • Evaluates worker capability and provides feedback to management • Encourages workers through assignment of appropriate tasks and duties to be successful • Challenges workers to learn and grow through training, teaching, and challenging assignments • Clearly communicates expectations and provides appropriate feedback Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance for extended periods of time. Be able to lift, pull and push material and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. Be able to lift 25 pounds of weight throughout assigned workday if required. The employee will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors. This position requires physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities in a primarily production environment. The work environment characteristics here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
