Candidates will typically only work 5 days a week. BASIC PURPOSE: The Maintenance Technician-Handyman repairs and maintains hotel buildings and equipment. These individual repairs building and guest rooms, plumbing, painting, sheetrock, electrical, and carpentry. This position may also require the completion of custodial work, as necessary. To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Respond to all guest's requests in a timely and efficient manner • Understand and operate basic electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and carpentry. • Perform maintenance in the guest room such as plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing water drips, repairing all types of hardware, electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners / HVAC and AC ducts • Perform preventive maintenance and necessary repairs on all hotel equipment, including kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, HVAC, electrical, and guest rooms. • Maintain timelines and work schedules in accordance with the preventive maintenance program. • Pool and Spa chemical testing as needed. • Check work orders and night reports for any problems. • Make rounds checking these problem areas and note any information needed or safety concerns in the hotel. • Test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repair on all types of equipment • To operate as an independent mechanic by analyzing problems, identifying courses of action, and implementing solutions with available resources and to a high degree of quality • Be available for any emergencies and protect guests and associates, and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency • Monitor fire Alarm / Life Safety System systems as necessary, be fully informed of the system operation, and handle emergencies involving the systems • Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed • Maintains the hotel facility and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner • Performs other duties as assigned by Management • Check the landscaping, mulch beds, lawn, for cigarette butts, trash, and debris. • Sweep all walkways and ensure any trash, debris, cobwebs, etc. are removed from exterior areas of buildings. • Notify management of any repairs needed (lighting, public areas, parking lot, etc.) • Empty all exterior wastebaskets and keep receptacles clean. • Sweep walkways and parking lot as needed to ensure clean and safe areas. • Use carpet cleaner, floor scrubber, power washer, and any other assigned equipment to safely clean interior floors, as well as the exterior building and walkways. • Respond to all emergency situations including fire alarms, bomb threats, disasters, and power failures; notify the appropriate authorities. • Make rounds of the hotel property to ensure everything is in working order. • Clean and maintain all equipment and work areas. • Complete maintenance requests take equipment and meter readings and maintain a log to notify the next shift. • Document all parts used and parts needed to be purchased. • Report any unsafe conditions to the Management. • Assist with maintenance of parking lot and snow removal as needed. Education & Experience: * High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): or Work Equivalent * Experience in Maintenance Engineering and basic carpentry. * Certification or completion of seminars for specialized training HOTEL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN-HANDYMAN Country Inn and Suites Shakopee, MN is recruiting highly motivated candidates interested in working in the maintenance department.
