Do We Have a Gun Problem?

Description

When 15,000 people are murdered by guns each year and another 17,000 commit suicide by guns, you bet we have a gun problem. More and more of those murder victims are innocent bystanders, including children. That does not even take into account all the people who are shot and wounded, but due to great emergency medicine, are saved but must live with the physical and emotional consequences of their gunshot wounds. How many horrific stories do we need to see on the local news each night about gunshot victims? Pro-gun advocates think that any law that tries to protect people from guns infringes on their rights. Guess what? The Second Amendment, like the First Amendment, is not absolute. How many innocent people must die of gunshot wounds before common sense prevails? Wayne LaPierre and the entire pro-gun lobby do a disservice to this country and have sold America on a false premise: that we need militias to defend this country. What is our military for? Wake up people. The Constitution is not a suicide pact.
