BROCKTON, MA—Brockton has retained its status as a high-risk community due to a sustained increase in positive coronavirus cases. The town has been a "red zone" since October 7, which currently means it has at least 10 average daily cases per 10,000 residents and a 5% positivity rate. Thursday's statistics from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health reveal that there have been 5,910 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Brockton, with 454 reported in the two weeks before November 19. Brockton currently has an average daily incidence rate of 32.7 and a positivity rate of 5.63%. The increase in COVID-19 cases in Brockton comes during a statewide increase in confirmed cases. The state reported 1,785 new cases and 18 new deaths on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 201,835 and the total number of deaths among confirmed cases to 10,299.
