Coronavirus Cases In Brockton Continue To Increase

BROCKTON, MA—Brockton has retained its status as a coronavirus "red zone" for nearly two months due to a sustained increase in positive coronavirus cases locally and statewide. The town's status as a high-risk community means that is at the highest risk of COVID-19 transmission and has had at least 10 average daily cases per 10,000 residents and a 5% positivity rate. The latest statistics released by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health on Friday reveal that there have been 6,170 confirmed COVID-19 case in Brockton, with 515 reported in the two weeks before November 27. Brockton currently has an average daily incidence rate of 37.1 and a positivity rate of 6.26%, an increase from last week's average daily incidence rate of 32.7 and positivity rate of 5.63%. Brockton's sustained uptick in COVID-19 cases comes during a statewide increase in cases. The state reported 1,166 new cases and 25 new deaths on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 218,329 and the total number of deaths among confirmed cases to 10,512.
