BROCKTON, MA—Massachusetts State Police Detectives and Brockton Police are investigating a car crash that left a West Bridgewater woman dead on Tuesday.
According to a press release from Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz, police received several 911 calls at approximately 3:17 p.m. reporting a three-car crash at the intersection of Route 123 and Pearl Street.
A Massachusetts State Police trooper was first on scene, said the district attorney's office, followed by Brockton Police and Fire Departments. First responders declared Kimberly Shirosky, 54, dead at the scene. A second driver of a Ford pickup truck declined medical treatment.
Police said that the preliminary investigation revealed that a black Acura TX being operated by John Medeiros, 30, of New Bedford, was speeding and did not stop at a red light in the intersection when he struck Shirosky's white motor vehicle. According to the press release, Medeiros became "disorderly with responding officers on scene".
Prosecutors say Medeiros is facing charges including motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, speeding, marked lanes violations, and failure to stop/yield.
Medeiros is currently hospitalized at Boston Medical Center and it is unclear when he will be arraigned on the charges.
