Description

Join singer-songwriter Ayden Crispe and other BBA musicians for a special concert to benefit the Kenya Drylands Education Fund! A senior at Burr and Burton Academy, Ayden first heard about KDEF in middle school and has been supporting our work ever since. An accomplished singer-songwriter with a powerful voice and compelling lyrics, she published her first album at age 14 and is now working on a new album, with original songs based on characters from her favorite novels. This special concert will be at BBA's new Founders Hall, featuring Ayden and other talented BBA musicians. To protect public health, masks are required and seating is limited. Kenya Drylands Education Fund (KDEF) breaks down barriers to education in the drylands of Northern Kenya. Less than nine percent of residents here obtain a high-school education, and only 26 percent can read and write. This keeps families locked in generational poverty. KDEF builds schools and dormitories, funds scholarships, provides reusable menstrual-hygiene kits so young women can stay in school, and much more! KDEF was co-founded by Sarah Hadden of Manchester, who visits Northern Kenya — and the brand-new KDEF Center in Ngurunit — on several extended trips each year. We're grateful to Ayden for organizing this concert! All proceeds support KDEF and will support projects like purchasing menstrual-hygiene kits for young women and filling our new library — the first in the remote, rural villages where we work — with books and supplies. Please consider adding an extra donation to your ticket price — or donating in lieu of a ticket if you're unable to attend! To learn more about our work, go to kdef.org.
