Brookside Bridge Mural Project
Residents of Hollywood Santa Monica, the Friends of the Santa Fe Tail, and students in the IB Program at Woodrow Wilson have partnered together to beautify the wall along Brookside bridge at the dead-end by adding a mural.
Working with Woodrow Wilson high school Studio Art Teacher, Jessica Raff, our shared vision is to have twelve students each design and paint a letter that collectively spells "Santa Fe Trail" along the wall (image below). With community engagement of the space we can make the neighborhood safe, more welcoming, and curb graffiti by applying an easy-to-clean non-stick surface. Additionally, the student-artists involved in the project will also be getting credit toward their IB program graduation requirements.
The Woodrow Wilson IB program is contributing $500 to the project, and we are looking to raise an additional $1,200 for paint supplies through our "Sponsor a Letter" program. With a gift of $100, you will support one letter of the 12 letter mural and be apart of this community effort. The goal is to have funding in place by February 28th so the students can get painting by early March.
Sponsors will have their names announced at the ribbon cutting ceremony later this spring and receive a small token of thanks.
**This is just the first of MANY improvements coming to the Brookside Bridge area that will increase the beauty and security of the area brought to you by the Friends of the Santa Fe Trail**
