A spring break workshop for Austin caregivers & kids during AISD Spring Break. Suitable for supervised children aged 5-10 years. One adult & up to 2 kids from the same family are admitted per ticket.
FARM SCHOOL SYLLABUS: DAY 1
Grow Food: Cultivating Soil & Starting Seeds
Thursday, March 17, 9 AM - NOON
Choose from a variety of seasonal, regionally adapted seeds. Learn about the different types of soil + compost that will help your seeds thrive. For kids: we'll compare seeds & roots, plant in the farm rows & explore the insect world!
You will take your newly planted seeds home, with a plan to care for them.
Option to purchase:
A small garden box (2 plants) - $55 value
A large garden box (6 plants) - $150 value

Share Food: Tending & Harvesting
Friday, March 18, 9 AM - NOON
Upgrade your at-home “pantry” by growing & harvesting thriving organic herbs & vegetables. We'll help you identify edible plants & trees on the property, process your harvest and share a demonstration for canning & pickling with Hannah of Han-Can. For kids: we'll plant, tend, harvest, and eat food grown on-site!
Bring your own: water bottle, bug spray, gloves & work boots/shoes.
Located in East Austin at Rain Lily Farms, 914 Shady Lane, Austin, TX 78702.
Park on Shady Lane, walk up the driveway & head to the garden rows, where you’ll see our schoolhouse.
Full payment is due at the time of ticket purchase.
Cancellations must be made two-weeks prior to the date of event to receive a refund.
