Equipment Operator - T&D #22-0019 DENVER, CO DIVISION Operations and Maintenance POSITION TYPE Full-time REGULAR/ TEMPORARY Regular Posting Close Date Feb 15, 2022 Pay Range $23.41 up to $24.70 per hour Salary/Hourly Hourly Location of Position Water Distrib - Ops Complex-BLDJ Job Description Position Summary Under direct supervision, perform skilled work in the operation of heavy construction equipment used in Denver Water operations. Operate heavy equipment and machinery, excavating and materials handling equipment, backhoes, loaders, motor graders, dozers, cranes, dump trucks, snowcat, snow-mobiles, bobcat, deck mowers, and boom mower. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Operate single and tandem axle trucks in single or combination vehicle configurations. • Perform semi-skilled work and receives a minimum of twelve months' training in the operation of light to heavy construction equipment used in departmental operations. • Perform prescribed operator maintenance and service. Report mechanical defects. Operate under appropriate conditions in a safe manner. • Advise and suggest practical methods for improvement in handling and operating equipment. Assist in the instruction and training of new operators. • Work independently on various jobs and use a variety of tools and resources including electronic pipe locator, measuring wheel, maps, GIS system to locate water mains, conduits, and service lines. • Load, unload, and store material such as pipe, chemicals, cement, and lumber. Cut weeds and perform related unskilled duties. • May be required to perform on call duty, work shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as directed, and work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. • Perform related work as required. Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience • High School Diploma or GED. • Minimum 1 years of related work experience. • Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position. Licenses, Registration, and Certifications • Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class 'R' Colorado driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. • Must possess a valid Class 'B' Colorado Commercial Driver's License within 6 months of appointment. • Must obtain an ICC (International Code Council) residential plumbing inspection certificate within 6 months of hire.
