BRAINTREE, MA — Today is Tuesday, Nov. 17. Here's the top stories Patch has been covering south of Boston today. Ninety-nine Restaurants, a well known chain with local roots, will close two of its pubs in Greater Boston. Both the Braintree and West Concord locations are closing Saturday, a company spokesperson told Boston Restaurant Talk. Restaurants in Seekonk and Worcester are also expected to close, though no date was given for their closure. Patch has reached out to the 99's corporate office for comment. The address for the 99 in Braintree is 250B Granite Street by the South Shore Plaza, while the West Concord location is at 13 Commonwealth Avenue. Read the full story here. Mexican Restaurant Opening At Patriot Place Next Month A popular Boston-area Mexican restaurant is slated to open at Patriot Place in Foxborough next month. Achilito's Taqueria is expanding from its Jamaica Plain location and offering tacos, burritos, quesadillas and more to south of the city. This will be the restaurant's third location. Achilito's is owned and operated by Margaret Pimentel, a long-time Boston resident who said she is passionate about using real ingredients, from chiles to fresh tomatillos, to make fresh and wholesome meals for the whole family. 44 Housing Units Planned At Former Braintree Electric Plant Two development companies proposed building 44 apartment units and a public walkway along the Monatiquot River at the site of the former generating plant for the Braintree Electric Light Department. If approved, Winn Development, of Boston, and Arch Communities, of Needham, would buy the property from the town for $1.5 million. The property has been vacant for two decades. The project would consist of 44 units ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments, Eleven of the units would be set aside for affordable housing for tenants who meet income requirements.
