STONEHAM, MA — A 19-year-old who police said robbed a local restaurant and gas station earlier this month is in custody. Robinson Hirt, of Stoneham, faces multiple charges after being arrested Thursday. Police said on the morning of Jan. 10 Hirt broke in through a rear door of the Five Guys on Main Street. He is accused of stealing cash from the register and a blue jacket, as well as cutting wires to the cash register and spray painting the lenses of the surveillance cameras. Police said on the night of Jan. 23 a man matching the description from the Five Guys break-in broke into a Mobil station on Main Street and went behind the counter to take cigarettes. He and the clerk got into an altercation in which Hirt pointed what appeared to be a firearm at the clerk, police said. The next night, a patrol officer broke up a fight in Stoneham Square. One of the people, Hirt, matched the description of the incidents. A search of Hirt's home turned up the blue jacket from Five Guys, a replica .357 revolver BB gun, a blue jacket worn in both the break-in and armed robbery, a blade like the one used to cut the register's wires and a phone the same as the one caught on the surveillance tapes, police saidl Hirt was charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime for a felony, malicious destruction of property under $1,200, larceny under $1,200, armed and masked robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery.
