SALEM, MA — While the citywide snow emergency parking ban was lifted in Salem on Sunday there will be restrictions reimposed on several roadways to help complete street clearing following Saturday's blizzard. The Department of Public Services was posting "No Parking" signs on Monday with those restrictions remaining in effect until Salem Police Chief Lucas Miller revokes them and the signs are removed. As with a typical snow emergency, cars parked on these streets are subject to ticketing and towing at the owner's expense. Parking restrictions include the following streets: Peabody Street - odd numbered side Ward Street - even numbered side Harbor Street – even number side Dow Street – both sides from Lafayette Street to Prince Street Palmer Street – odd numbered side from Pingree Street to Lafayette Street Leavitt Street – both sides Chase Street - odd numbered side Lafayette Place – both sides Prince Street - odd numbered side from Palmer Street to Harbor Street Perkins Street - odd numbered side Salem Street – not being posted at this time, but may be if circumstances require; watch for signage Hancock Street – even numbered side Cedar Street – even numbered side Union Street – both sides Herbert Street – both sides Hodges Court – both sides Palfrey Court – both sides Daniels Street – both sides Bentley Street – both sides Hardy Street – both sides Turner Street – both sides Carlton Street – both sides Becket Street – both sides English Street – odd numbered side Cousins Street – odd numbered side Allen Street – both sides The city is allowing temporary parking at several lots but asks that those who have access to off-street parking use those options to keep the alternative sites open to residents who need them. The Church Street lot is open for free from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. After 7 a.m. regular rates apply. The Universal Steel lot on Bridge Street is open for residents and free.
