Beverly Police Collect Nearly 500 Pounds Of Unused Medications

BEVERLY, MA — Nearly 500 pounds of unwanted and expired medications were collected at the North Beverly Shopping Center parking lot during Saturday's Medication Disposal Day. Beverly police said 212 residents dropped off 473.2 pounds of medication. "It was a very successful event," Beverly police said. Proper disposal of unwanted and expired medications is necessary to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands where they can be sold or abuses. It is not recommended that old medications be thrown out in the trash or flushed down the toilet because of the possibility they could get into groundwater. Those who missed Saturday's event, but still have items to drop off, can do so in the drop box in the Beverly Police Department lobby.
