SEMINOLE, FL — A Largo man has been charged with armed sexual battery, attempted murder and domestic battery by strangulation after Pinellas sheriff's deputies said he attacked a 32-year-old Seminole woman he was acquainted with at her home. According to the sheriff's office, around 3 a.m., deputies were sent to a home in Seminole after receiving a report of an armed person who had fled the scene. According to deputies, the woman said 32-year-old Desmond Wilson of 10697 105th St. N, Largo, forced his way into her home and bedroom through a side door, pointed a gun at her head, then struck her, sexually battered her, strangled her and threatened to kill her. The woman cried out for help and was able to escape from the bedroom when friends who were in the house at the time confronted Wilson. When Wilson threatened the friends with his gun, 38-year-old Jharfvan Thomas went to get his own gun and returned to the home. Wilson shot at him and Thomas shot back, suffering a gunshot wound to his leg. Wilson then fled the home. Deputies obtained a description of Wilson's vehicle and found him and the gun in his vehicle. Wilson had suffered a gunshot wound to his arm. After being taken to the hospital for treatment, he was taken to the Pinellas County Jail where he was charged.
