Dr. Cory Young will discuss little-known African American pioneers in Cumberland County and Beyond.
Join us for a fascinating look at early history with Dr. Cory Young from the University of Nebraska. Although they often had little choice, people of African descent helped White settlers colonize Pennsylvania's interior. In his talk, Dr. Young will share the stories of some of the Black pioneers whose lives and labors transformed the Susquehanna River Valley over the course of the eighteenth century. Dr. Young spent a significant amount of time at the Cumberland County Archives and Historical Society researching this topic.
