Description
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Law enforcement from the Hudson Valley will be able to show their support for a fallen brother in blue, NYPD Officer Wilbert Mora, with a special MetroNorth "Blue Line Express" train to his funeral.
The special eight-car "blue" express train will make two stops on the way to the sendoff for the officer who was shot and killed while responding to a domestic call. Police from across the region will muster at the White Plains Train Station and the Fleetwood Station in Mount Vernon.
The special law enforcement train was organized with support from MTA Police and MetroNorth Railroad.
The train will depart from White Plains at 8:27 a.m. on Wednesday. The only stop will be in Mount Vernon at 8:40 a.m., arriving at Grand Central Terminal at 9:25 a.m. Members of the law enforcement community are asked to muster approximately a half-hour before departure.
The train will return to both locations following the ceremony. The departure time will depend on the funeral schedule and will be announced at departures, but organizers expect the train to depart for Westchester around 1:30 p.m. Attendees are asked to muster at 46th and Madison Avenue following the service.
An onboard canteen will be offered by the Westchester Blue Foundation.
