BEVERLY, MA — Despite finishing the spring with online classes, and with some startingthe new school year the same way due to the coronavirus health crisis, several Marblehead students made their marks on college campuses across the country. Rosemarie L. Gotsch has been selected for inclusion on St. Lawrence University's Dean's List for academic achievement during the Spring 2020 semester. Gotsch is a member of the Class of 2022 and is majoring in environmental studies-sociology. Gotsch attended Beverly High School. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have completed at least four courses and have an academic average of 3.6 based on a 4.0 scale for the semester. Beverly resident Elyse Kersten has enrolled at James Madison University for the fall 2020 semester. Kersten's selected major is management. Established in 1908, James Madison University is a community of 22,000 students and 4,000 faculty and staff, nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. JMU offers 124 degree programs at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels, keeps classes small with a 16:1 student-to-faculty ratio and has the highest six-year graduation rate among its peer institutions at 84 percent.
