BEVERLY, MA — North Shore residents headed to Newburyport this spring could be in for a free ride if they don't mind riding the bus. The MBTA said that starting March 5 shuttle buses will replace trains from Beverly north on the Newburyport. The final train stop will be Beverly with North Beverly, Hamilton-Wenham, Ipswich, Rowley and Newburyport served by shuttle. The shuttle service is expected to last two months until May 1. The good news? Since all shuttle buses will be free, riders are advised not to buy passes beyond Zone 4 for March and April. The MBTA said the shuttle service is necessary for updating the signal service. All buses are accessible, but bicycles are not allowed.
