HEMPSTEAD, NY — Nassau County police are investigating a murder that occurred in Hempstead Sunday night. According to police, Hempstead police officers answered a call for shots fired near the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and Sewell Street at 10:55 p.m. When they arrived, they found a 49-year-old man lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was soon pronounced dead by doctors. Police have not yet released the man's name. Police ask anyone with information about this murder to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
