Beverly Residents Reminded To Quarantine As Close Contacts

BEVERLY, MA —With contact tracing efforts stretched in Beverly amid the recent rise in coronavirus cases, residents are asked to take the responsibility to quarantine if they know they were a close contact of someone who has tested positive. Beverly Mayor Mike Cahill said those who have tested positive, or know themselves to be a close contact of someone who tested positive, may not be contacted by a tracer in a timely fashion. "If you have been exposed to someone with COVID for 15 minutes or more within 6 feet — with or without a mask — you are a close contact and must quarantine for a minimum of 10 days," Cahill said in a message to the community. "Please note that there is a test-out option for leaving quarantine on Day 8 that you can discuss with the health department." Those who test positive should isolate, including from all other residents of the home, in order to reduce transmission. Those who are close contacts of someone who tests positive should not leave their home for the duration of the quarantine. Those who have tested positive, but have not been contacted through a tracer, are asked to call the Beverly Health Department at 978-921-8591 or the Community Tracing Collaborative at 857-305-2728.
