Description
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A 22-year-old woman from Hamilton died on Sunday after a single-vehicle crash on Route 9 in Hillsboro. The woman, Bernadette Reynolds, died at the hospital after her Jeep Wrangler crashed through a guardrail and rolled down an embankment.
Around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 9 near Stony Point Road. In their initial investigation, authorities determined that Reynolds was driving a 2018 Jeep Wrangler eastbound on Route 9 before the crash.
As the Jeep was travelling eastbound, it entered a roundabout and struck a guardrail, police said. It then travelled down an embankment and rolled over.
Reynolds was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries. A passenger in the Jeep was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The passenger's injuries were not considered life-threatening, authorities said.
Authorities have not publicly announced a possible cause of the crash.
