Beverly To Receive Nearly $100K In State Grants

BEVERLY, MA — Beverly announced a trio of state grants that will provide nearly $100,000 to go toward diversifying housing, recycling and election preparation. A $45,000 grant from the Energy and Environmental Affairs Department will allow the city to conduct a study for diversifying housing choices, specifically accessory dwelling units. Darlene Wynne in the Planning Department helped secure this grant. Kerin Cotter in the Engineering Department helped secure a $33,000 grant for the Recycling Dividends Program from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Air and Waste. This grant will go toward eco-friendly projects that maximize recycling, composting and waste reduction programs. City Clerk Lisa Kent helped secure a $16,212.50 grant from the Cent4er for Tech and Civic Life for election administration needs. The funds will go toward poll worker recruitment funds, hazard pay, training expenses, polling place rental and cleaning expenses and temporary staffing.
