BEVERLY, MA — Beverly has unveiled the four winners of its Sidewalk Poetry contest.
The winners' poems will be embedded in sidewalk panels this spring. The winning poems will be posted here next week.
Submissions from underrepresented voices, including women poets, poets of color and LGBTQ+ poets were "highly encouraged" in the contest that was open to all Beverly residents and Endicott College students.
there were 61 in the Beverly Main Streets project run in conjunction with the city of Beverly, Beverly Cultural Council and Mass Cultural Council.
The winners are: Nick DiSalvatore for his poem "last rite."
Tobey Archibald for his poem "Sidewalk Instead."
Dawn Paul for her poem "I Fetch Water."
Aly Pierce for her poem "Analemma."
Each winner also received a $150 stipend along with having their work permanently displayed.
The four runners-up are:
Cathryn O'Hare for her poem "November Poem."
Margaret Young for her poem "Low Tide."
Cathleen Warren for her poem "Morning, Prospect Hill."
Stephanie Angeline for her poem "Essex County."
Those four will have their poems posted on social media and will be included in a display being featured in the next face of development.
